TECHNOLOGIES

2-WAY RELEASE – The release lever on a RAPIDFIRE Plus shifter is pulled towards the grip, just like the trigger of a pistol. The release lever on the new RAPIDFIRE Plus shifters, from ALIVIO to XTR, can be operated in the same way. However, it can also be used to shift gears simply by pressing with the thumb.

RAPIDFIRE PLUS – RAPIDFIRE Plus has been used by mountain bikers since 1985. RAPIDFIRE Plus continues to be used successfully by a wide variety of riders, from cross-country racers to freeriders. RAPIDFIRE Plus is ideal for fast shifting. The rider can shift down by up to three gears with a single lever movement. All RAPIDFIRE Plus shift levers, from DEORE to XTR, are equipped with 2-WAY-RELEASE (release in two directions). This means that the shift cable is released by pulling with the index finger or pressing with the thumb.

INSTANT RELEASE – This feature replaces the two-step click and release process. Because the spring releases the shift cable immediately when the lever is actuated (and not only when released), faster shifting operations than ever before are possible.

I-SPEC EV – I-SPEC EV creates a clean, action-optimised cockpit layout that helps more riders achieve greater concentration and flexibility. Thanks to the wider adjustment range, the I-SPEC EV levers can be set to the optimal position for a wide variety of riding styles (ENDURO, XC, etc.), rider preferences and rider anatomy (hand and arm position). With I-SPEC EV, the brake clamps are positioned further inwards. This creates an additional contact point between the handlebar and the brake lever, which increases the lever’s stiffness. This additional support significantly improves control over the bike and braking performance. At the same time, there is still space between the clamp and the support point for other handlebar-mounted accessories.
