Open-world building and survival adventure
Minecraft for Nintendo Switch combines exploration, building and survival in a procedurally generated world where each game can develop differently. Gather resources, create tools, construct everything from simple shelters to large structures and explore environments filled with materials, creatures and challenges.
Creative mode for unrestricted building
Creative mode gives players the resources needed to focus on construction and experimentation. Build structures, reshape the environment and develop larger projects without having to gather every material or concentrate on survival.
Survival mode
Survival mode adds resource management, crafting and combat. Explore the world to collect materials, create tools, weapons and armour, establish a secure base and prepare for hostile creatures encountered during adventures.
Explore an open world
The procedurally generated environment encourages exploration above and below ground. Different landscapes, caves and resources provide opportunities to gather materials, discover new areas and gradually expand the player's world.
Play together
Minecraft supports multiplayer gameplay, allowing friends and family to build, explore and survive together. Up to four players can play on one Nintendo Switch in supported TV and tabletop configurations, while local and online multiplayer support up to eight players under compatible conditions.
Cross-platform adventures
Supported online features allow players to share Minecraft adventures with friends using other compatible platforms. Online functionality requires an internet connection and appropriate accounts or subscriptions depending on the selected multiplayer mode.
Three Nintendo Switch play modes
The game can be played in TV, tabletop and handheld modes, allowing the same Minecraft world to continue at home or away from the TV. Multiplayer availability and the number of supported players depend on the selected play mode.
Super Mario Mash-Up included
The Nintendo Switch version includes Super Mario-themed Minecraft content, bringing familiar characters, textures and other elements from the Super Mario universe into the block-based world.
