KNYGA RN, Joyce Victor PhD Sugarcoated

In this unflinchingly honest book inspired by true stories, the reader is brought on a journey of navigating obesity, self-esteem, and acceptance. Through vivid memories and candid reflections, the reader explores the complexities of body image, childhood bullying, and the persistent weight of societal expectations through the lens of other people's experiences. The story begins in the innocent joys of childhood birthday parties and evolves into the raw truths of adolescence and young adulthood, where shame and isolation often overshadow confidence. Choosing weight-loss surgery is not a magical solution, but a brave step toward reclaiming health and life. With compassion and strength, the Author collates other people's experiences into a book that is both vulnerable and empowering, inviting readers to reflect on their own relationships with body image, acceptance, and hope. This is a story for anyone who has ever felt judged or unseen.
