Dip below the Nile’s surface to the realm of ancient Egypt’s green-faced god of the life, death, and rebirt.Dip below the Nile’s surface to the realm of ancient Egypt’s green-faced God of life, death, and rebirth. Known to the Greeks as Osiris, Wesir is one of ancient Egypt’s most enduring deities, worshipped from at least the Old Kingdom, alongside his consort Aset-Isis, until the 6th century CE. Looking to the cycles of nature, the ancients saw Wesir’s mythology made manifest in the landscape of the Nile Valley, reassuring them that just as the crops grow, die, and return, so shall Wesir, and all those who repeat his rituals. Bringing together Egyptological research and contemporary Pagan perspectives, this book invites readers to unearth the ancient mysteries of Wesir and to raise the Djed Pillar of his rebirth in the modern day.
