KNYGA Henry Fielding Joseph Andrews & Shamela

Discover the wit and charm of Joseph Andrews & Shamela by Henry Fielding, published by Penguin Books Ltd in 1999. This captivating paperback edition spans 432 pages and offers a delightful exploration of 18th-century literature. In Shamela, Fielding cleverly parodies Samuel Richardson's Pamela, presenting a story where a virtuous servant girl resists her master's advances, only to be 'rewarded' with marriage. Meanwhile, Joseph Andrews, Fielding's first novel, serves as a humorous counterpoint to Richardson's work, featuring the lascivious Lady Booby, who attempts to seduce her hilariously chaste servant, Joseph. This collection not only showcases Fielding's sharp social commentary but also his masterful storytelling. Perfect for fans of classic literature and those looking to delve into the rich tapestry of English prose, this book is a must-have for your collection.
