REGION, FARM, PROCESSING
The Benti Nenka coffee processing station is located in the village of the same name in the Hambella Wamena region, within the West Guji zone of Oromia. Operating at an altitude of 2,107 meters above sea level, it specializes in natural and anaerobic processing methods. Founded in 2017, the station has since become an important processing hub for local coffee producers.
The station receives cherries from approximately 500 smallholder farmers, each cultivating coffee on plots of 1.5–2 hectares. Its location was chosen for the area’s high coffee production potential and its central position, which facilitates cherry deliveries from surrounding farms. Benti Nenka operates within active farming communities, supported by traditional systems of collective labor such as DEBO and DADO—forms of mutual aid in which farmers take turns working together.
ROASTER’S OPINION
Sweet, fruity, and floral, with a clearly defined acidity. If you enjoy vibrant espresso, you won’t find a better address. And two more words: Hambela and Guji. This area and this region consistently deliver the most exciting Ethiopian coffees.
Store in a cold and dry space.
