ABOUT THE COFFEE
Nguguini is the epitome of classic, washed Kenya — distinct, juicy, and full of fresh, fruity accents, with a subtly sweet character in the background. The cup is dominated by an intense and clear acidity, typical of the finest Kenyan coffees subjected to fully washed processing. Lime and gooseberry give it a lively, crisp character, while notes of caramel, lemonade, and sugar introduce sweetness and help balance the citrus acidity.
The bean underwent the classic Kenyan fully washed processing at the Ngugu-ini washing station, which works with over 1,200 coffee farms. The lot features botanical varieties characteristic of the Kenyan profile: SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11. These coffees are grown at an altitude of 1,600–1,650 m a.s.l., which further contributes to building its distinct, fruity, and acidic character.
ROASTER'S OPINION
Nguguini is another classic this year with a delicate, somewhat surprising twist. Already in the aroma, it leaves no doubt about its Kenyan character — intense notes of citrus and gooseberry create a distinct, acidic profile. Subtle accents of sugar and lemon zest appear in the background, reminiscent of slightly sweetened lemonade.
