Ebru, also known as marbling, is an ancient Turkish technique for decorating paper (and other materials) by applying patterns to the surface of specially thickened water using paints and special tools.

What's included in the kit?

• A rectangular plastic bowl measuring 24 cm x 18 cm x 2.5 cm
• Powder for preparing the liquid (carrageenan)
• 12 tubes of paint in various colors, each containing 16 ml
• 24 sheets of paper measuring 20.8 cm x 14.6 cm
• 2 pipettes
• A teaspoon
• Tweezers
• Design tools: brush, spatula, drawing needles, comb

Instructions:

Pour 250 ml of water and 1 tablespoon of powder (carrageenan) into the bowl. The powder-to-water ratio should be 1:200. Then mix and let it sit for 4-6 hours. To speed up the process, add some warm water at approximately 40°C and mix before setting aside.
Choose the paints you will be using and shake the bottle to mix the pigment. Cut off the top of the cap. Carefully squeeze the paint into the liquid and wait a moment before adding another color.
Using tools (needle, comb, brush), draw your chosen design on the paint.
Take a sheet of clean paper and place it flat on the paint surface. Gently press it down with your hand or spatula so that the paper adheres firmly to the surface and wait 3 to 5 seconds.
Use the corner of the drawing needle to lift one end of the paper, gently lift the paper with your hand, and place the finished image on a clean, even surface, colored side up, to dry naturally. Done!
